In Sioux City, Iowa city Councilman Aaron Rochester finds himself in an awkward position.
In September of 2008 he reportedly stated at a council meeting that Sioux City spends 60 percent of its budget on fire and police protection and that it would spend more to protect its residents from vicious dogs.
Some of those tax dollars will be spent to fund the case against a Labrador, recently declared viscous. The dogs owner, Councilman Rochester plans to appeal.
For the sake of my friends in the Sioux City area with Labradors, I hope they are not next on the list of banned dogs.

Bark Rangers!
On Monday June 15 and Monday July 20 at 6:30 p.m. The Outdoor Campus invites you to become a Bark Ranger!
There are two separate classes being held. One is an introduction to bite prevention for pre-school to junior high aged children. The hour long adventure will include the basics of how to approach a dog, what to do if a dog approaches you and how to be safe when playing with new dogs. I'll be leading this class with the help of my daughter, Casey.
The second will be outdoors for adults and their on leash dogs. Tanya from iK9Kare will be talking about safe leash walking, how to read other dogs you might meet out in public, and how to obey park rules while still having fun!
We also have great swag bags to give a limited number of attendees so please come early!
Recently my daughter and I were filmed by Kelo news as part of our participation in the 29 Day Giving Challenge.
The piece also covered our participation in the Bark Rangers event, and shows some of the great stuff you'll receive in your swag bag when you attend! See you Monday night!

Taking the BANG out of 4th of July
Our friend Anna reminded us today, that we have less than 30 days to help our pets prepare for 4th of July festivities. She shared a great link to 4 Paws U on desensitization and counter-conditioning your dogs to the crackle and bang of fireworks.
Read through this article, and see this festive holiday through the eyes of your furry companion. Enjoy a safe and happy holiday, and thanks again to Anna, Eros, and Eudora for the timely reminder!
My girl Ginger at last years 4th of July festivities with her back pack full of
water, treats, and 1st Aid Supplies!
